The Upsides

"The Upsides" - Due out Jan. 26th 2010

I was asked by my good friends The Wonder Years to provide some hand lettering to go on to their new album, "The Upsides" coming out in late January.

When I talked to one of the guys 9 months ago while they were in pre-production, why they were choosing to use photography for this record whenever other records they put out had been beautifully illustrated; the answer was simple. They wanted to try something new, and had a lot of friends that did photography they wanted to try out. None the less I was glad to draw up some hand lettering to go on the cover of their new record. Below is the chosen piece you can click to enlarge in the first round of colors sent off to the band.

Into It. Over It.

Heres another cool poster I did for No Sleep records. Its a promo poster for the up and coming release of "(52 Songs in) 52 Weeks" by the indie/emo band Into it. Over it.

I was asked by Chris the A.D. to illustrate and design a poster that was kinda like the cover of the album but to do it in my own way. The artwork was to have two versions. One version that is a web promo that is full color and another that is white on black that I am going to screen print later this week for a package deal.

No Sleep Means Family Silk Screens

4 color Silkscreened Promotional Poster for No Sleep Records (Yellow, Gold, Brown, Orange)

I just got done signing 100 of these screen prints and man is my arm tired. I have to ship these prints out in the next few days, so that they will be available to purchase at the No Sleep Records Store in the next week or two.

I talked to Chris at No Sleep, and he said they will be sold for somewhere between $15 and $25 a print with free shipping.

Distances Record Release Show!

Thanks for everyone who came to the Wonder Years Record Release show! It has been a run doing art work for the album, shirts, posters and even silk screening the poster the was posted for the event. It is both really awesome and flattering to see kids running around with shirts at the show with my art work on it.

This is The Wonder Years Merch Table with the record I illustrated and designed and also the record release silk screened sleeve! Its amongst shirts I didn't design but James Heimer totally did the record cover on the far left and the yellow shirt.

No Sleep till.....

No Sleep Records Promo Poster

I was hired by No Sleep Records to do a silk screened poster, as a promo for their record label. This is the final piece, but the type may change in the next two weeks before I physically print the piece. (they may have more bands on the label)

Also, this piece has a little more significance since one of my teachers asked me to do a digital demo for her sophomore class at U Arts. They were all polite and full of questions about the digital process. Plus I had drawn the piece that morning and finished it that morning for the class.

I love it when a piece turns out great!
